LAPTTOP PROJECT
What is the Lapttop Project?
Lifelong Access to PCs Through Training for Older People (LAPTTOP) runs 9 week introductory courses in Rochford and Rayleigh for over 50’s and adult carers who would like to learn basic computer skills. The course covers the following subjects in brief and is designed to show how computers can be used whilst familiarising the learner with basic computer functions.
- An introduction to Computers
- Word Processing
- The Internet
- Spreadsheets
- Moving, Copying and Deleting files
- Digital Cameras
- Printing
The cost of the course is £45. See the contact details to book a place on a course or to find out more.
Courses are for a maximum of 10 people with a tutor and two volunteers, providing a high ratio of personal tuition for the learners. For this reason the courses have proved to be very popular.
The Lapttop Project can offer a range of other options:
- Home visits for those who have difficulty accessing courses, which includes adult carers.
- Short 4 week ‘taster’ courses at Sheltered Housing Schemes across the Rochford District.
- Courses for community and charitable organisations that can provide a venue.
